Albufeira, Portugal

Albufeira is a popular coastal resort in The Algarve, Portugal’s southernmost region known for its beautiful gold sand beaches, golf resorts and nightlife. Once a small a fishing village, Albufeira is now a bustling city and a popular holiday destination that really goes cater for everyone.

When visiting Albufeira and the wider Algarve region, you will be taken aback by the friendly charm of its people and it is this charm that really makes Albufeira special.  Right on your doorstep are white washed buildings, stunning coast line and beaches, multiple attractions, lively nightlife, varied water sports, award winning golf courses, and delicious local cuisine.

There are two main parts to Albufeira, both offering something different.

The Strip – If its a lively night out your after with a selection of restaurants, bars and nightclubs then “The Strip” is the place to go. Located in the Areias de São João part of Albufeira, the strip is a long road spreading from Montechoro to Praia da Our and is a popular area for those looking to let their hair down and have a good time.

Old Town – If you are looking for a more relaxed night out but with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops nearby, then the old town is perfect. This stunning part of Albuferia has something for everyone and is not as hectic as the strip but there is still plenty of fun to be had. With its narrow streets, huge central square and stunning architecture you really need to visit it to appreciate its beauty. Although a little more expensive than the strip, the old town is a firm favourite for families or those looking for the slightly more up market experience.

Weather

The Algarve is a perfect destination all year road and with its fantastic climate the region boasts more than 3000 hours of sunshine per year. Summer months are hot and dry, with mercury hitting the high twenties during July and August. During the winter months the weather remains mild with temperatures ranging between 12 and 18 degrees between November and March.

Beaches

Gran Canaria has a some beautiful blue flag sandy beaches all along its coastline. There is a gay beach in Maspalomas which is located close to beach bar “Hut 7” where clothing is optional.
